Education Planner has three sections of information- one for students, parents, and counselors. The student section has many links and the first link provides checklists for middle and high school students to consider when planning for the future. Involvement in extracirricular activities and exploring academic courses were some great suggestions the site gave. It has a career planning section which allows students to take various self-assessments to evaluate and recognize their skills and/or learning styles and study habits and how to improve, and match them to jobs that seem best fit. They can then explore careers and their salaries, watch videos that show what the careers entail, learn how to get experience through internships and the like, etc. There is also a section that explains to the students that, "It's not all about the money: choose a job that you genuinely like to do." I felt this was a strength for this website because adolescents often get stuck on income and being rich, and not on the actual characteristics of a career that will fit their lives and make them happy. Aside from careers, the website focused on education planning. It gives links for finding schools that may pertain more to one's desired career, information on required standardized tests, the application process, how to pay for school and scholarships, etc. Giving detailed information on more than just careers is a plus for this website because it allows students to gain knowledge on not only an actual career, but how to get through the required schooling first and foremost, if need be. Some students may not be aware of the steps needed to get into or even pay for college, so this information may be helpful.
